The reason luxury homes don’t need for-sale signs might surprise you
Local agents say the for-sale-signs take away from the aesthetics of the neighborhood while doing little to attract prospective buyers.
If you’re a real estate agent – the city of New Canaan, Connecticut, has now banned for-sale signs from the area entirely.
The board of Realtors for the affluent Connecticut town also has banned agents from putting up for-sale signs in front of homes that the residents are trying to sell.
The reason is that the signs take away from the beauty of the neighborhood while doing little to attract prospective buyers.
Most home sellers recognize they’re not really contributing to the sale of the home.
New Canaan located in southwestern Connecticut is often included in the lists of towns with the highest median income in the country. Some local authorities and residents suggest that the town’s housing market has dipped due to the multiple for-sale-signs that were scaring residents away.
Too many for-sale-signs give the impression to buyers that the entire neighborhood is for sale.
